This month’s 13 fabulous finds & link-up

I’m always finding brilliant sites, shops, Instagram accounts, pretty things, TV shows, books, etc and I never think to jot them down to share with you. So last month I decided to start a monthly post featuring 13 Fabulous Finds that I’ve stumbled across recently. Why 13, you ask? No particular reason, apart from the fact I’ve always rather liked the number 13. So, here we go… 13 Fabulous Finds…

1. Wolf Like Me—I’d seen the trailer for Wolf Like Me and thought it looked a bit different, so last week, whilst in the throes of Covid, we sat down and watched it—and got totally hooked! It’s absolutely brilliant and we were so thrilled to read that there will be a second series. It’s set in Adelaida, Australia and features one of my favourite actresses, Isla Fisher. It’s kind of a comedy/drama/romance but with dark undertones. We watched it on Amazon Prime.

2. The Lincoln Lawyer—Recommended by friends, The Lincoln Lawyer was another one of those shows that had us hooked from the very beginning. It’s about a lawyer down on his luck who inherits a law office from a murdered lawyer. I don’t think there is anyone particularly well known in it, but it’s addictive watching. Find it on Netflix.

3. I found this YouTube video so relevant for life right now. It’s all about first impressions….

4. I LOVE watching Gary Vee’s YouTube videos. In fact, I’m probably becoming a bit obsessed with him lol. I love how he doesn’t give a shit about what people think and he swears worse than a drunken sailor! To be honest, I think he’s a breath of fresh air. And his videos are particularly brilliant for anyone who is trying to be successful on social.

5. Here’s another video where he’s offering up his advice to 15-year-old Tiktok star, Charli D’Amelio.

6. I just LOVED Ralph Lauren’s Fall / Winter 2022-23 fashion show. It’s all about the black and white, with hints of red. Absolutely gorgeous!

7. Digital newstands—I’m probably really late to this party, but I had no idea you could subscribe to hundreds of magazines and newspapers via your tablet for such a small monthly fee. I stumbled across Magzter first and couldn’t believe how cheap it is to have instant access to magazines from all over the world. Then I found Readly. Does everyone already know about this? British magazines tend to be so expensive to buy within the EU, so this is a game changer for me!

8. Skechers Roller Boots—I was browsing Skechers shoes online when I stumbled across the best thing ever! They have their very own roller boots. Cool huh? Before I moved to Portugal in 1986 (I was ten), my bestie at the time, Emma, and I used to spend almost all our free time roller skating around Clifton Park in Rotherham (South Yorkshire). We’d spends hours and hours on those skates. It’s such a wonderful memory. I actually have a really cool pair of skates now, that I’ve had for a few years but I can’t remember the last time I used them. Remember the roller discos of the 80s? I’d love to go somewhere like that again!

9. Dad’s Got Moves—Last month I mentioned the OuttaPuffDaddys, and this month I’ve found another fun dad dancer that just makes me giggle. This account is called Dad’s Got Moves and it’s exactly that… a dad with a great sense of humour and some really fun moves! lol

10. While we’re on the subject of Instagram, then I should also mention thegoldengirls4evr. If you’re a fan of The Golden Girls from back in the day, then you must follow this account, which shares some hilarious scenes from the popular TV show. It’s had me in stitches over the past few weeks!

11. A few weeks ago, I received a press release about the launch of American heritage Salt Water Sandals’ trilingual site in the EU. When I checked out the site, I was immediately taken back to my childhood. Specifically, to memories of my late mother (who died when I was thirteen). My mum used to wear very similar sandals to these. It was such a lovely memory that I thought I would share it with you. And they’re pretty sandals too, as well as being 100 per cent waterproof. This is not an affiliate link by the way, I just wanted to share 🙂

12. This next fabulous find is just a bit of fun… but how do you fancy seeing what you would look like as an Avatar character? Well, you can do just that in Tiktok lol! Seriously, I’ve been spending so much time playing around on Tiktok lately, I’m well and truly hooked! The Avatar effect is just one of many fun things you can do on there. Here’s me as an Avatar character…

13. So, I wrote all of the above last week when I was home. I had intended to finish it before we headed to Germany, but didn’t get the chance! So what to share for my 13th fabulous find? Well, how about my own Tiktok account? If you’re curious about our trip, it’s the best place to see what we’ve been up to! Find me at www.tiktok.com/@greybrunette

That’s quite the list of recommendations, Suzy. I’m especially intrigued by the news of your TikTok account. I’ll be sure to check it out.

  2. Ahh, fun post, Suzy! The dancing dad cracked me up and I loved your roller skating memory! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

  3. It’s great you’ve found so many fun videos and things online! While I do have Instagram I’ve never tried tick tok, haha! My sister sends me videos from there occasionally but after I failed so badly at trying to work snapchat I’ve never tried to setup my own account.

Thanks for the link up 🙂 Hope you are having a good week!

How haven’t I seen the new Ralph Lauren runway? I will be watching that. And I will pop over and give you a follow on TikTok too. See you over there xx

Oh, Suzy, you have the best posts!!! I’m always looking for new shows and creators! I am hooked right now watching Emily D Baker and her coverage of the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trial. I love Ted Talks, too. I used to browse them for videos to show my students! Thanks for the link up!!

My girlfriend still has got roller skates and sometimes we go cycling and she on her skates over the dykes here. Enjoy your weekend.

  7. This post always costs me sooo much time, because I want to see everything. The TED talk about how we are perceived was nice, but I already knew everything. Contrary to you, I found the RL fashion show boring and outdated. Strange.
I have never heard about Readly and such. I looked into that but decided not to. It would mean I’ll be on my tablet for ever.
I am now following Dad’s moves as well. The one I saw was a pretty good dancer haha.
Following the Golden Girls now as well.

  9. I just started doing reels and think the more I do them, the more comfortable I will be. Im not on tic tok, but will check you out. The Lincoln Lawyer is on my list of things to watch. I just watched The Perfect Mother and could recommend! I have seen a few dancing dads on reels and think it is fun to watch, some skills! My dad was not a dancer! LOL. The Ralph Lauren show looks amazing!
    Have a great week Suzy!
