Hectic times, a simple look and link-up

hectic times

These are hectic times for me at the moment, hence me missing my link-up last week! Sorry about that. I just didn’t have time to post anything. You see, a few weeks ago, we went to Germany to buy my new car. It’s the third time we’ve bought a car from Germany and imported it into Portugal. It might seem extreme, but there’s way more choice in vehicles over there, and they are quite a bit cheaper. And even though we have to pay import duties, it usually works out for the better.

The reason I bought my Jeep Renegade there is because we looked into buying the same car here, but it just wasn’t possible to have all the same specs that we wanted (and it was quite a bit more money). Plus, they couldn’t give us any idea about when it would be delivered. So, we bought it from Germany.

We’re also starting to pack up our belongings ready to move out next week! I know, crazy right? They wouldn’t be such crazy hectic times if it wasn’t for us catching Covid early last month. That really messed us up! Oh well. C’est la vie, right?

I’m taking a little breather to write this post, but the second it’s done, I’ve got to get back to sorting everything out. If you’re wondering why we’re moving. Well, it’s a funny story. Five years ago, we bought the plot next door and had a gorgeous house designed by an architect friend, then we started the long and arduous (!) bureaucratic process of getting it approved by the local council. Well…it’s been in the process for years and we’re still waiting.

Long story short—we’ve got a buyer for our house, the beautiful house we’ve lived in for the past 16 years. It’s not just any buyer though, they’re friends of ours which we’re delighted about. And they need to get out of their rented accommodation by the end of the month. So, we need to get out of here pronto. We’re incredibly fortunate though, because the other house in this cul-de-sac belongs to a Portuguese friend in Lisbon who only uses it a couple of times per year and he has said we are welcome to live in his place until our new place is built! So, we are literally moving out of our house and into next door. And then, once our new place is built, we’ll be moving into that which is just across from that house! It sounds so complicated, doesn’t it? Oh, and that Portuguese friend from Lisbon just happens to be the engineer who is working on legalising our house plans lol.

We’ll get there in the end! But it has affected my blog schedule and my social media presence. I just haven’t had the time to do anything. But hopefully, in a couple of weeks, we’ll be settled in our friend’s place. It’s a much bigger house than this one, so my office will be way more spacious, which is exciting. I’ll be able to crack on with my YouTube videos and TikToks with much more ease 😉

But, before the link-up, I did manage to take a few pics of the outfit I wore last weekend. It’s a super simple look with super comfy wide-legged jeans, a soft sparkly tee (both of which were from Massimo Dutti), and my favourite black Timberland sandals. I used my Desigual handbag and added a few stone bracelets and matching necklace (gifts from my MIL last Christmas) and that’s it. My super simple driving outfit!

Now, let’s get on with the link-up. I’m hoping I’ll have a few breaks throughout the move when I can come and check out all your posts. It’ll be a great way to de-stress! Thanks for being here, my lovely friends!

  2. I love your adorable driving outfit, my friend, but I am exhausted by reading all the hectic you have going on! So I can only imagine how pooped you must be. All that driving! While I love a good long road trip, driving in circles for all that time….eeek. Although you did make me giggle describing this unique driving adventure! While I have not had too many interesting things going on lately, my life has grown exponentially hectic as well. But we always get where we need to be despite it all, don’t we?!

Oh my so many km, you surely have not the same prices for gas as we do have here, lol. What exciting the new build! We built our previous home and it was a lot of fun!

Whew! Hectic and crazy is right! I And here I’ve been stressing over having nearly the entirety of my first floor painted this coming week. I wish we had a friend’s house right across the street to borrow. LOL!) 6000 km! It’s a great driving outfit! And the purse is awesome. So exciting about finally getting to build your new house – and that friends purchased your current place. How perfect!

Oh, my goodness! I cannot imagine driving that many miles in that short period of time! But, at least you had a good time while you were doing it! And, you looked pretty dang gorgeous whilst doing so! I didn’t realize how long your new house had been in the planning stages. That has to be so frustrating. We started talking with our builder in November last year…but just poking around really. We didn’t sit down to actually do it until March which was so lucky as he’s had to take a pretty big price increase! For once, we got in early!

Thanks, my friend, for the link up!

Girl. How are you even dealing right now? I’d be in a corner laugh crying myself to sleep. LOL

Also it’s beyond weird that you have to have so many kms on your car before you can import it. Now I’m wondering if things were similar when we moved to Italy? My dad brought over a big old American van which he promptly sold because it was too big for the narrow streets by our house. LOL

Congratulations on your new car. Yo look really fresh. Loved your bag.

  11. We are just coming off of Covid. What were your symptoms and how long before you were back to normal, or are you yet? We had mild cases but feel as if the wind has been knocked out of our sails. And on weekends we are sleeping 12 hours at a time. Unheard of for either of us.

Wow, just wow with your moving adventures. Will your home be underway soon? Can you kind of leave most things packed until you move into your new home? I cannot imagine 2 moves. I am a former military wife and have moved more than my share. Hope your home is soon built and ready for move in.

When I lived in Panama we considered buying a SAAB and having it sent from Europe because it was so much cheaper than buying the same car in the U.S. The deal fell through and we wound up buying a very old BMW instead. We were dirt poor but driving a BEAMER!!

  12. Have you got any idea when the permits to building your new house will come through?

We have no idea! We keep hoping they will come through any day…but we’ve been saying that for a couple of years lol!!

  13. How horrible.
