As promised last week, here’s a peak at our new leather sofa which arrived in record time. We ordered it at the beginning of July and were told it would arrive in October. Imagine our surprise then, when they called to ask if they could deliver it a few months ahead of schedule! Clearly, we were delighted.
Our new leather sofa has a little bit of a retro appeal to it, so we decided to buy a few new things to complement it. A couple of shopping trips later, we now have a fabulous looking living room and dining area. We purchased a pouffe (from Ikea) and a teeny coffee table (from Zara Home), a few new cushions (which keep slipping down because the sofa is too slippery lol), a new lamp and six new dining chairs (also from Ikea). We’re thrilled with the final look although Michael thinks our new dining chairs make the area look a bit like a board room lol! But we’re ok with that 😉
We’ve had the dining table and chairs since we bought this house, over fifteen years ago. But we really fancied a change, so we decided to keep the table as is (because it is a beautiful solid wood table) and just change the chairs. The original chairs are also solid wood, and are quite lovely too, but they’re rather high backed, so when we chose these new ones, we loved the openness of it (if that makes sense?!). Our kitchen, dining area and living room, is all open plan so it is nice to have everything a little lower to take full advantage of the space.
There is one other thing that we would like to change and that’s the curtains and curtain rails, but that will have to wait for another day, considering we would need nine curtains! And that equals a lot of money! We did see some lovely grey curtains we liked in Maison du Monde (one of my favourite home shops), but it would have cost nearly 500 euros just for the curtains! So, we’ll be putting up with the way that it is for a bit longer lol!
I absolutely love our new look, though, regardless of the need for different curtains. What do you think? Do you like our new leather sofa and new look downstairs?
