What a week. We got Covid!

Today is the first day in over a week that I’ve actually had the energy to put makeup on. You see we finally got it: we got Covid. For me, it started with the most horrendous dry mouth in the middle of the night. I woke up feeling like an Egyptian Mummy. But I just figured it was to do with the hay fever that I’ve had for the past few months (which, incidentally I have never had before). Then Michael started feeling a bit shitty. Bearing in mind, I was already packed for our trip to Germany (I’ll get on to that in a second) so I really, really, didn’t want to get ill now. But, he did a Covid test and it was bloody positive. I tested positive a day later. Cue: crying emoji.

Luckily I’d just been grocery shopping so we were good for food. But I was gutted because we had to postpone our trip. You see, we’d recently bought a car in Germany and were booked to fly out to pick it up last Tuesday. This is my dream car, so you can probably imagine my disappointment. But the car isn’t going anywhere. It’s waiting patiently for us to collect it whenever we can. I had hoped today might be the day we would both test negative—Michael’s test is pretty much good to go. Mine, on the other hand, is still showing a positive result. I guess I’ll just have to be a bit more patient!

As for my experience with Covid, I must admit that it hit me pretty hard with a horrid fever and all over aches and pains, along with nausea, sore throat and a cough. Combine that with a nasty case of hay fever, and you’ve got quite a few sleepless nights. Then, along came the pain that has bothered me my entire adult life. Pain that has never been diagnosed, but comes just the same—sometimes two or three times a year.

It’s an intense dull ache that often starts in the spine and then radiates down all the limbs, sometimes running around my torso too. It’s so intense that I find myself walking around, swinging my arms, trying to stretch every muscle to get some kind of relief but it doesn’t work. This usually lasts for several days and then it’ll vanish as quickly as it started. It’s absolutely awful, but fortunately, over the past couple of years hasn’t happened so often.

Today, the pain has subsided, which is why I’m finally able to sit in front of my computer to type! It’s good to start feeling normal again. All I need is for this hay fever to dissipate and my next Covid test to be negative and I’ll be over the moon! Then, we can go and get my fabulous car.

Luckily, because I had planned to go away, I did have last week’s (the Kurt Geiger bag outfit and the wide-legged trousers outfit) posts all set up and ready to go. Needless to say, I haven’t got any outfit photos to show you this week, because the entire time I’ve been wearing either Harry Potter pyjamas or my joggers and without a stitch of make-up on either. Trust me, it wasn’t a pretty sight. In fact, earlier on in the week, I resembled something out of The Walking Dead. It’s lovely to have my face on again though lol. And hopefully, I’ll have some pretty pictures for you soon enough.

I’m so sorry, Suzy! That sounds absolutely awful by itself, but having to postpone your trip too is a double whammy. Glad you are both on the mend!

Oh, Suzy, I’m hoping you are feeling well enough to schedule that trip to Germany now! My DIL and her mom both had it within the last week. We have, so far, evaded it. But, out of our ten-pod, 40% have now had it! We oldsters are hanging in the 60% group!! I do hope you are completely recovered, my friend!

Glad it wasn’t too bad for you. I’ve heard so many different stories from covid sufferers. I hope we get to see photos of this swanky car. Excitig! xx

I hope you won’t have any lingering pain left from it. I am excited for you getting your dream car! My dream car this year was a van… having 4 kids to fit in, no exciting car for me! But it is a much upgraded model than my last one so I do love it.

Oh sympathies – that sounds horrendous and is the main reason why we’ve been so very careful over the last two years. I really don’t want to get it and therefore I wear a mask on public transport and indoors when in shops and similar now that we are a little more out and about. These ain’t normal times yet! You take care and get well and negative soon, and enjoy Germany!

  7. Glad to have already read the next.post with the happy ending!
