Link-Up: It was the craziest of times, but I’m back!

It really was the craziest of times, but I’m finally back! YAY! I’m all settled into my new little cloffice (closet office) in our rental. I haven’t had the chance to take any outfit photos just yet, because it’s literally taken us two weeks to move into the house next door. I cannot believe how much stuff we’ve accumulated over the years, it’s crazy! This isn’t helped by the fact that Michael runs his own renovation business so he has SO MUCH stuff related to that. Spare tiles, engineering machines, tubes, bricks, etc. Not to mention the fact that he’s a total motor head so there’s all the bikes, cars and everything related.

The inside of the rental is almost ship-shape. We just have to hang a few paintings and put up a couple of pairs of curtains. Once that’s done, we can relax a bit. I’m so looking forward to this weekend when we’ve decided to have a proper chill out. I just hope this weather clears up. It’s been raining this morning and the black clouds are hovering above. Funny thing is, Michael went out to see a client this morning, just twenty minutes away and he said the weather was gorgeous over there! I hope it finds its way over here, because I can’t wait to spend some time drifting on a lilo in our ‘new’ swimming pool!

@greybrunette I'm baaaaack! It's been a crazy month but I'm back and ready for some silliness šŸ˜œšŸ˜œ #tiktoksilliness #foryoupage #fyp #foryou ā™¬ Brazilian Music Rhythmic Piano Jingle(866382) – Pi-bou

And after the craziest of times, I am in much need of some serious swimming pool drifting because you wouldn’t believe the amount of walking I’ve done over the past few weeks! The first day of the move, I think I did 25,000 steps!! Yes, you read that right. 25,000. Madness, right? The second day I did 28,000 steps and it basically went like that for a little while until I’d managed to move all the smaller stuff. I ached like crazy, and I was covered in bruises. But it’s done. At least until the new house is built, and then we have to do it all again lol!

But I’m not even going to think about that right now. I’m just going to enjoy living in this new place for a while. I have been wondering where I can take outfit photos here, and I’m still unsure because there’s nowhere as niceā€”or as privateā€”as my favourite spot in the old house. Bummer. I shall have to work my magic and find somewhere suitable, because I’m not too keen on having all eyes on me whilst taking photos!

Oh, and on top of all this, it was our 24th wedding anniversary the other day too! We had thought about going out somewhere nice for dinner, but in the end, I just couldn’t face it, so I cooked Michael his favourite vegan lasagne instead. Plus, we still need to track down the best places to eat vegan food in the Algarve. So far, whenever we want something special, we have to go to Lisbon. So, that’s another thing I’m planning on writing aboutā€”the best spots for vegan food in Portugal. So much to think about!

When was the last time you moved house? Did you have to go far? Did you have the craziest of times too? And, if you’re local to me, do you have any vegan restaurants to recommend? Please let me know in the comments.

Enjoy that pool, Suzy. Sounds well deserved! I moved nearly three years ago and we’re still decorating! xx

  2. Oh Suzy, it sounds like so much craziness! But I am glad that you are all moved into the new place until it’s time to move again! When we bought our first house in Pennsylvania, it was less than a mile down the road from the apartment we lived in. We never even rented a moving truck, we just drove carloads of stuff down the road and then ordered all new furniture to be delivered. I think close moves tend to be harder than far away ones because you don’t feel like you have to be as prepared. I hope you get to relax this weekend and enjoy your new swimming pool!

We moved 4 1/2 years ago about 45 minutes from one house to the other but the size of the house about doubled from 2300 to 4400 square feet! So it was kind of fun getting some new furniture (which wasn’t as fast as expected). I do make sure to donate donate donate what we don’t use so it wasn’t too bad.
Glad you are settled and looking forward to seeing more of the new space. I can’t believe, old, new and future is so close together!

Oh so much to do and to organise when you move house. We did it 8 years ago and we had to live for 7 weeks in another home until our current house was ready. I hope you can enjoy that swimming pool real soon!

  5. Oh…
We haven’t moved for 28 years and if we never move again, I won’t mind!

I watched your YouTube video today! I could listen to you talk for hours…your voice is so soothing and that accent!!! Well, onto moving…ugh!!! We are almost all packed up only to find out the house won’t be done for probably six weeks. The builder has said he will try to get it done faster. Either he really likes us and wants to make us happy! Or, he really dislikes us and wants to be done with us! I don’t know which way it is! In my post about the home update, I mentioned I have packed all of my clothes! Yes, like a dummy, I packed my clothes. Nigel has been trying to get me to hurry things along, and I caved and packed my clothes. That necessitated a bit of shopping which is counterproductive…but I don’t do well under pressure! He’s now backed down a bit because I might have let him have it!!! I don’t think I have moved that many steps in a long, long time! Luckily, we are having movers do the actual heavy lifting and moving…but we aren’t moving just across the yard. BTW…if you need a somewhat older, rounder Yank to float around the pool, I just might know one!!! Thanks for the linky!!!

LOL you’re so sweet, Marsha! Thank you. I could listen to you for hours too…! And OMG you packed all your clothes and you’ve got six weeks to go?! Oh dear…I would right down the shops, me lol!! And Im sure you builder loves you.
Oh, and you are always welcome to come and chill by the pool, my friend!
      Hugs xx

Wow, what hard work! You deserve a few sessions on a lilo. I shudder to think about moving house. We have far too much stuff. Have a great weekend x

    • Suzy says:

Thanks Gail! Sadly, the weather wasn’t so great this weekend, so there was no lounging by the pool šŸ™ Maybe next weekend! We’ll see!
      hugs xx

I feel for you on the moving. We moved cross-country last September. 2000 miles or 3300 km. And it involved packing our condo on my momā€™s house, because she moved with us. We paid movers to haul our stuff. I wonā€™t bore you with the hideous details of that nightmare – but at least we didnā€™t have to do the heavy lifting like you did. I think Iā€™ve reorganized 42 times since weā€™ve been here. I hope Iā€™ve about got it right.

I hope youā€™re getting plenty of rest now.

LOL you made me laugh, Michelle! I hope I don’t have to reorganize 42 times but you never know!!! Thank you so much.

    P.S. I love silly. šŸ¤£

  10. Last time I moved house was 4 years ago and it was hectic! The amount of stuff we had to sort through made me want to run away from it all! But it was all worth it afterwards.

    • Suzy says:

That’s the thing, isn’t it, Erika? It’s always worth it in the end! Thank you so much.
      xx

  11. I think you could take your pictures standing at that door in the photo with the pool in the background. Gorgeous!! What a crazy time you have had. I absolutely detest moving so I feel your pain. Last time I moved from one house to the next was 2008. Still trying to recover, ha!!

I am a former Army wife and moving was the name of the game when we were in the military. I think I moved something like 15 times before my daughters’ father and I divorced.

Hope you can rest some this coming weekend. Maybe discover a great vegan restaurant and definitely float in the pool.

    • Suzy says:

I can only imagine what all that moving was like, Leslie! It must’ve been an absolute nightmare! I will try your suggestion for the photos next time!
      Thank you so much.
      xx

That sounds like a lot of hard work…. we are having awful weather in Ireland at the moment. Summer has not started yet…

  13. Having a pool is very nice, but you so know you have to clean it too? Just saying.
