My favourite discoveries lately | Link-Up

Okay, so I’ve been shopping…A LOT over the past few weeks. I’ve treated myself to some real beauties and I’ve also been buying some lovely Christmas gifts for friends and family. I’ve also stumbled upon some new YouTube channels to binge out on, as well as some other stuff too. So, without further ado, here are my favourite discoveries lately…

Rokynori Shoes
Technically, I discovered this Portuguese brand over a year ago when I bought my cream boots from a nearby shoe shop (Guimaraes). After a few weeks of wear, I regretted only buying them in cream because they became my instant favourite—and most comfortable—pair of boots. I’ve practically lived in them. I had looked so see if I could find them online but couldn’t. I’m not sure why. Perhaps their site wasn’t up and running at the time.

But earlier this week, I decided to have another look and lo and behold….their site was live YAY! I was delighted to find the exact same boots in other colours and so I bought them in black. They arrived yesterday and I’m so impressed with this company. The boots come in a standard shoe box but there’s a typed personalised note explaining how they make each pair made to measure and they’re beautifully made in Portugal (something I particularly love). They’ve also sprayed the box with some kind of fragrance which is another lovely touch! Can you tell I’m impressed lol?! Here’s me wearing the cream boots in Switzerland…

Salsa Jeans
This is another Portuguese brand that I’ve become a huge fan of lately. Earlier this year I bought a pair of jeans from their ‘True‘ range, and it’s like they were made for me. I loved them so much, I bought a second pair mere weeks later. I’ve lived in those jeans throughout the whole year! So, during Black Friday week, I went onto their website and found three more pairs in the same range and got them at a great price—a loose fitting wide legged black pair, a similar style in blue and a more slim fitted, distressed pair. I can’t tell you how happy I am with them. They just fit beautifully, kind of like the way jeans used to be without all that bum-lifting, sucking in stuff that so many jeans have these days lol! I just wanted simple denim jeans and that’s exactly what I’ve got.

ShiftCam Pro Grip
I’m not sure if you know, but I love me a good gadget! It’s one of my weaknesses lol! My latest, also bought during Black Friday week, is the Pro Grip from ShiftCam.

Basically, it’s a gadget that you put your phone into and it instantly becomes like an old fashioned video camera. So it makes it much easier to hold while videoing / taking photos. It also doubles up as a phone stand and a charger. It was expensive but it’s very high quality and I love it! I also love the box it came in because it says, The Making of Memories…

Braun Silk-expert Pro 5 IPL
I’ve been wanting to have my own IPL laser hair removal device for years so I finally treated myself…yes, you guessed it, during Black Friday week lol. I’ve only used it a couple of times so far but I’m almost certain my hairs are already starting to become thinner. It can be a tiny bit uncomfortable at times but mostly its pain-free and super easy to use. The only thing that is a bit off-putting is the light it emits is crazy bright so it would be good if there were special glasses to wear during use. But I love it! And I can’t wait to say goodbye to having hairy legs and armpits (no to mention chin!) lol.

Natura Notebooks
Yesterday I was doing a spot of Christmas shopping and I wandered into the Spanish store, Natura which is one of those shops that you’ll always find something a bit unique, like alternative clothing (when I saw alternative, I mean more sort of yoga / hippie style), eye masks, relaxation accessories, heat pads, slippers, jewellery, etc. Anyway, I was about to buy a little gift for a friend when the saleswoman told me it was three for two on everything in store. Well…then I spent another hour in there lol! But I found the most beautiful notebooks. As a writer, I ADORE notebooks so these really spoke to me. Let me just show you and you’ll understand…

The only thing I’m not keen on is the fact that it’s a plain book. I usually prefer a lined notebook but it was just too beautiful to pass up! And they have other designs too!

Christmas Grogu
I have to mention my adorable new little Grogu (The Child from The Mandalorian). I spotted him in Primark earlier this week and just knew I had to have him! Isn’t he cute? I think the price was reduced too, so I only paid about ten euros for him!

Safiya Nygaard
Ok, that seems to have been all about shopping doesn’t it lol! Here’s something a bit different. I don’t know if you’ve heard of the YouTuber Safiya Nygaard? When I first stumbled across her, I wasn’t that keen but I tried again some weeks later, and I soon became hooked lol. But this particular video is very interesting for anyone who likes to shop online…

So that’s a few of my favourite discoveries lately! A lot of shopping, I know lol. When I’m not making purchases (!), I’m usually on Youtube watching my favourite channels, but I’m on the look out for some Lifestyle YouTubers who are closer to my own age. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy watching all age groups, but sometimes, I just want to watch women who I can relate to more at this time of my life. So if you can recommend any, please let me know. Obviously, I’m following Laurie at Vanity and Me and I recently discovered Jo Good (Middle Aged Minx) who is fun to watch (plus, she has the most adorable bulldog called Myrtle). But many of the other YouTubers my age and older tend to be all about beauty, which is good but I like a bit more variety! What have you been up to lately?

Oh I’m a sucker for notebooks too. And I want them lined! Cool boots! Love the white ones too. Enjoy your weekend!

Those boots are amazing, Suzy! I can’t wear lug soles because I always end up tripping! That’s all I need…busting my nose and losing my teeth. I love to watch Safiyah. Have you see the one where they sleep in a something or other underwater? It gives me the heebie jeebies because I’m so claustrophobic. Some of her videos (like melting every lipstick to make one) drive me nuts. But, she’s a good watch. I do watch Laurie, but I’ve not heard of the other woman. I’ll have to check her out. Thanks for the link up!

I was completely fascinated by that Safiya Nygaard video! Wow! Fast fashion really is a vicious beast. Wishing you and Michael a very merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
