Khaki and red on a spring-like day

It’s a new week, and the sun is shining here in the Algarve. We had some glorious weather over the weekend, although the evenings are still chilly. It’s still sweater weather though, (mostly!) and today I fancied wearing a bright one with my favourite khaki combats.

I adore orange with khaki—it’s such a striking colour combination. Sadly, I only have one orange sweater and it doesn’t look right with these trousers, so I opted for the next best thing: red. I happen to love this red sweater (hubby, on the other hand, doesn’t, but am I bothered? No, of course not lol). I bought it from Mango a couple of years ago. I think it’s the bell sleeves that appealed to me. It’s also nice and soft, so it’s really comfy!

The combats are from H&M and they still have very similar styles available. Last time I looked, they also had them in black. I’m very tempted to get another pair myself. They look fab with colourful trainers too (and heels, of course, but I don’t wear heels too often these days).

colourful handbag

Isn’t the handbag absolutely gorgeous? It was another Christmas present from my lovely mother-in-law. Lately, she certainly seems to find all the best stuff, doesn’t she? Remember the other divine handbag she bought for me? They’re both leather and I believe she bought them from both from one of the shopping channels she adores! (She’s a bit obsessed lol)

I’ve had these boots for quite a few years now and although I love how they look, they’re not the most comfortable—in fact, they’re quite hard! I much prefer the feel of my black Timberlands but this pair looks better with my combats. I purchased them from Seaside about five years ago but they’ll never go out of style, not really. Not in my eyes anyway!

Jewels

As for my gorgeous jewellery, again I have my mother-in-law to thank for it all. She bought the green peridot necklace for me during Christmas 2019, and the ring was a gift a couple of months ago. She’d bought it for herself but had never worn it because, she says, she doesn’t like green lol! She is a hoot, isn’t she?! She turned 80 last month. It was such a shame we couldn’t be there to celebrate the big day with her. Bloody Covid.

If you’re wondering why I missed posting last week, it’s because I spent the week decorating my brand new ‘cloffice’. It’s almost finished, there are just a few tweaks here and there. But I promise to share as soon as it’s all done. It is looking absolutely gorgeous though!!

Hi Suzy, haven’t been following for a while – pared things down a lot last year but your email popped up this morning. I have to say that I love the red and khaki on you, and the longer hair -looking good. I’ve embraced the grey. I was a light blonde with colour (blonde originally anyway) and had decided at the start of 2020 to ditch the colour. Well, turns out that was an easy decision. Have been surprised by how dark grey the back is, but I can’t see it, so that’s ok. The front is just blonde and silver and that will do. Good luck with the new blog.

These colours look fantastic together! The jumper is a lovely bright orangey-red…isn’t it funny how we just ignore what our husbands say and wear whatever we like? Exactly how it should be! Gorgeous bag and ring too. Thanks for linking up!

  11. I think red and olive go together too, just like orange. So it is a good combination. Well styled. And perfect with that gorgeous bag.

Yay for your new cloffice, Suzy! How fun! I can’t wait to see the final product. And what a great outfit, too. I love red or orange with khaki as well. Those boots are amazing! What a bummer that they are too hard on your feet. The price we pay for fashion sometimes! Haha. Thanks for linking with me, my friend.
