Faux leather leggings | Neverending Style link-up

faux leather leggings

When we were in Switzerland a couple of weeks ago, I was shocked at how pricey Zara was there, compared with everywhere else. The prices seemed at least a third more expensive! Clearly I had no intention of buying anything…until I spotted these faux leather leggings on a sale rail! You can always trust me to find the sale rail in any shop lol.

I think they were only about ten or twelve euros so I snapped them up and went and tried them on. My friend—who is brutally honest—told me they looked good from the front but weren’t very flattering on my bum. But I figured I wouldn’t wear them with anything short anyhow, so I bought them.

This was the first time I wore them, to go food shopping. When I got home, I grabbed the vacuum and did a spot of cleaning. But the moment I started getting warm, the faux leather leggings started getting on my nerves. I could feel myself overheating and begin to sweat, so I had to go and take them off! I’m sure I will wear them again, but certainly not to do anything taxing. I was way more comfortable in my trusty jeans!

For the rest of the outfit, I wore an old black turtle-neck top, my new (ish) cardigan from H&M, an old pair of Chelsea boots (from Secret Sales), a snake-print, cross-body bag from Parfois and some silver jewellery (all inherited). It’s a very simple outfit, but it’s me getting out of my comfort zone again, by wearing all neutrals. I am really drawn to these beiges and taupes right now. It’s so weird because I always disliked how these colours looked on me. There are still some light beiges that make me look like death though lol!

I did try and wear a belt over the top of the cardigan but there’s just something about me and belts… we don’t always see eye to eye. I think if the cardigan was much thinner, perhaps I might have stuck with it, but I just felt it was too bulky around the middle—even when I lifted the belt to give myself a higher waist (which is more flattering on most women), it didn’t quite work. Having said that, my belt collection is a little dismal. I must try and improve it!

Are you a fan of faux leather leggings? How do you wear yours? Now let’s get on with the Neverending Style link-up! I’m a few hours late this morning because I had a lovely long video chat with an old friend who I haven’t spoken to since May! So, apologies for that. I hope you’ll link up all your recent posts!

  1. These neutral shades look great on you! I have some leather-look coated leggings that don’t make me hot because they’re quite thin and stretchy, but I can imagine the thicker faux leather can get a bit sweaty. I was shocked at how expensive everything is in Switzerland. We had a day in Zurich and all we bought was lunch and a cocktail! I prefer shopping in Madeira and Spain. Hope you have a great weekend!

  2. That is a great find! Those leggings look fabulous on you and even better you got them for a steal! I love the color!

  3. Oooh, I love the taupe colors in this outfit! The leggings look really nice with the long cardi. I have resisted the faux leather pants trend because I overheat easily and they don’t seem comfortable in that respect.

I think faux leather leggings look fabulous. But I never wear then myself anymore, because they sting on my white leather chairs. Thanks for hosting and have a lovely weekend.

I think you look great in neutrals! I’m admiring those faux leather leggings. Everything is over priced in Switzerland so you were lucky to find a sale rail! Thanks for the linky xx

  6. I’m more of a fan of real leather than fake leather, partly because of the heat issues (real leather breathes), and partly because I loathe the sticky feeling of fake leather. I love the taupe colours on you, Suzy – they are a nice break from loads of colour (if that’s your normal jam), and good for showing off accessories. You can find amazing belts in second-hand stores. I have a Dior, an Yves St. Laurent, and many beautiful real leather ones, all bought for under $10.00.

I never even thought about it like that, Sheila! I think I would probably much rather wear real leather too. Perhaps I shall keep an eye out for a pair next time I’m shopping. I wish we had better thrift stores here in the Algarve though!! Next time I am in them, I shall keep a keen eye out for their belts though! Thanks for the advice 🙂

  7. I am not a huge fan of light neutrals on myself either, but it is a nice change up from darker and brighter colors for some variety. This outfit looks really cozy and chic. I love your new leather leggings. The color is gorgeous! By the way, my bum (or lack of one) rarely looks good in anything…maybe that’s why I love all of my long duster like things!

LOL Shelbee, is your bum (or lack of one) really that bad??!! However, you do look absolutely fabulous in your long dusters!!
      Hugs xx
