A floaty outfit for a hot evening & link-up

I’m a little late with the Link-Up this week. Things just seem to have gotten a little busy, but here it is, at last! I’m showing you the outfit I actually wore last night when we had friends over for a bite to eat. It was so, super hot, that when I was getting dressed, I simply reached for something loose and floaty. When the temperatures rise to 30 degrees and over, I just can’t be doing with clothes that are tight. I need a floaty outfit that I can be comfortable in.

I can’t bear the heat. My body just doesn’t seem to react well to it at all and for the past few days, it has been so hot that I’ve been feeling a little unwell because of it. It happens almost every summer, and so I have to dress accordingly. If I could, I’d walk around in nothing but a cotton sheet! But that wouldn’t make the most exciting blog post, would it?! So I’ve opted for a floaty outfit instead!

All items of jewellery were gifts from my mother-in-law and I’ve had both the top and the skirt for a few years. My rose gold sandals were from Aldo a couple of years ago. The pink blouse is from Pull & Bear and the skirt is from Calzedonia. We are often told that one of the style ‘rules’ is to not wear a loose fitting top with a loose fitting skirt. Well, I think this is proof that rules are meant to be broken, right? I love how boho and dreamy this floaty outfit looks. And when I took these photos (at 8am this morning), the golden hour light was so beautiful that I decided to ‘pose’ in the garden on the other side of the house from where I usually take photos. It’s so gorgeous at that time of day.

So that’s my floaty outfit today. What have you been wearing this week? And what have you been up to? Share all your fabulous blog and Instagram posts in the Neverending Style link-up below. I’m excited to see what you share this week! And please share the link-up with your blogging & Insta buddies! Big hugs xx

  1. Suzy, I love this flowy boho look on you! It has gotten really hot and humid here as well and I have spent the week in lightweight dresses to try to stay cool. But it is supposed to cool down to some normal spring/summer temperatures this weekend and into next week. Thank goodness because we are going to a festival next weekend! Yay! Fun post, my friend!

I love this pretty blouse! And yes floaty with floaty works in this outfit! Very summery and feminine! Each time I see your white maxi, I tell myself, I need to find one!

I need a skirt like that in my life! Have a lovely weekend Suzy xx

Rules are made to be broken. Love this flowing boho look. Beautiful pics in the golden light. We don’t often have the problem of too much sun in the UK as you know- the worst thing is when it’s humid (rare) and it’s impossible to sleep! Xx

  5. Such a lovely outfit, I love long floaty skirts 🙂 Thanks for hosting and the reminder.

I also do not like hot weather and I’m so glad that I now live near the beach where the temps are 20 degrees cooler than where I lived most of my life. And I agree with you that loose and floaty garments are the best way to combat hot weather. Stay cool.

What a relaxed look. Boho! I was wearing a wider tee last night with a wide skirt, just wear what you want. Have a great weekend!

Thank you so much for the feature Suzy! I love your floaty outfit, the top and skirt go really well together. It’s been really warm here over the last week or so and it’s going to hit 30c in the south tomorrow! Not quite that warm here in Cheshire but I’ll be out in the garden soaking up the vitamin D!

I had no idea it gets that cold in Portugal. I never see 30 degrees here in Florida. I think your outfit is perfect for Summer though!

You are proof that rules are meant to be broken! I always think white and blush are so fresh together, especially in warm months, even more so looking delightful in the golden hours of the day. Oh and I own identical real leather rose gold sandals. They were my most worn pair all last Summer.

Welcome by and join my linkup on Thursdays. =)

P.S. Remind me what day of the week is your linkup, please. =)
