Earth-inspired look for the Fab40s

After last month’s water-inspired outfit for the Fab40s, we’re following it up this month with an earth-inspired look. All I knew is that I wanted to wear something in earthy colours, but I wanted to avoid green considering I’m always wearing that lol! Well, it is my favourite colour, but I just wanted to be different for a change!

earth-inspired look

But boy did I struggle. I love wearing browns, specifically deep chocolatey shades. Years ago I had a simple vest in the most beautiful shade of brown and I adored it. But I must’ve worn it to death because I haven’t had it for a long, long time. I’ve been trying to replace it for ages, but have failed miserably. I guess, chocolate brown clothes just haven’t been ‘in’ for a long time, sob sob. {Since writing this I’ve actually just found a chocolate brown vest on H&M!!! I’ve ordered two!!)

I even went shopping recently bearing this earth-inspired look in mind. But do you think I could find anything? Nada. Zip. Rien. Nothing. I was so bummed. But I was determined not to wear green. So, I had a really good look in my wardrobe and ended up wearing an old tee-shirt (with an elasticated bottom) with the words, ‘Wanted: One Wild Horse’. I can’t even remember when I bought it but I’ve had it years. It’s quite a nice shade of brown and it’s the only brown top in my wardrobe so it would simply have to do.

So, what else could I wear? I’ve got a couple of pairs of brown trousers but they’re more suitable for the cooler weather. So my only other option was this pair of cotton chinos that I bought from C&A a couple of years ago. They’re perfect for the warmer months. I added my brown suede ‘clogs’ (well, not exactly clogs but they’re similar) and the look was complete. Earthy tones for my earth-inspired look! What do you think?

I took these photos on the plot where we’re building our new house. We’re still waiting for the local town hall to approve the paperwork though. Honestly, it’s taking SO LONG! But fingers crossed they’ll give us the go ahead soon so we can get started! I can’t wait! But that’s enough about me and the plot next door. Let’s see how the other Fab40s gals have styled this months earth-inspired look…

Ada, Elegance & Mommyhood

Ada is wearing one of the cutest jumpsuits I’ve seen! I’m loving the hints of green in the outfit as well as in her earrings. Oh and her gladiator sandals are absolutely fabulous! And what a beautiful setting, Ada!

Daenel, Living Outside the Stacks

Daenel went with tweed {brown} for the dirt, the blue top for the sky, and she thought the embroidery kinda looks like flowers….and she looks freaking GORGEOUS! I LOVE everything about this outfit and think she’s absolutely nailed it!

Shelbee, Shelbee on the Edge

Shelbee’s outfit is simply gorgeous. This is what she said about it, “So I got these amazing tie dye boots a few weeks ago and they kind of reminded me of a globe so all the greens and blues of the earth started calling to me…and I went out and hugged a tree!” LOL, Shelbee, I absolutely love this!

So, that’s it. Our earth-inspired look this month. Keep an eye out for us next month when we’ll be styling either air or fire! I can’t wait!

  3. Love love love the graphic tee. It always amazes me how something so “simple” can have such impact. The earthy vibe is definitely all there.

Side note: I’m totally digging your hair.

And wishing you luck with the house.

I love brown too and always having trouble finding anything in brown. I found a cardigan years ago at Primark! But never can find dark brown skirts or trousers. Those chinos look great and that tee is fun! Great combination!

I’ve just ordered two brown vest tops (two of the same) in H&M! At last!! Hopefully they might start stocking a bit more brown in their collections!

  5. Love everyone’s outfits 🙂 I don’t think I own anything brown as it’s not a colour I see much. Love your outfit.

It’s one of those colours that people probably tend not to buy so much, but it’s actually really flattering! I highly recommend it!

I like how you’ve lifted the dark brown with a lighter caramel in you tee. What a fun challenge, I love to see everyone’s different interpretation of the prompt. Have a super week xx Jacqui xx
