My week off and the Neverending Style link-up

week off pizza night

In case you’re wondering why I haven’t posted for the past week, it’s because I had a week off YAY! Michael took some time off work so I joined him and we had a few days of just relaxing and hanging out by the pool. Unfortunately the weather turned really, really hot and it was quite unbearable for a while. Thankfully, it’s cooled down a little bit now though.

I’m so grateful for our swimming pool! It was blissful just floating on my inflatable ring and reading books. I haven’t been reading much lately so it was great catching up with a few of the books from my bookshelf! I read Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris (the first of the Stookie Stackhouse novels and the books that True Blood is based on), The Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse and I’ve just started Insatiable by Meg Cabot.

My sister tried to get me into the True Blood TV series years ago, but I thought it was too gory and had too much sex in it LOL! How things have changed ;). Since reading Dead Until Dark during my week off, I’m now becoming obsessed with it. Did you ever watch it? I’m watching it on HBO.

What else did we get up to? Well, Michael bought a snazzy new pizza oven which was delivered just before our week off and so we had our inaugural pizza night with friends. It was great fun. However, it was one of the hottest evenings so far—interesting considering the pizza oven had to reach between 350ºC and 400ºC! Up until now, Michael has always made pizza in the regular oven in our kitchen, using a large stone slab. So it was fabulous being able to do it outdoors. We’re looking forward to having some pizza nights when the weather is cold! If you haven’t got a pizza oven and love to cook, then I highly recommend it! Although ours was rather pricey, you can get cheaper ones from the likes of Amazon, for example.

I also had a brilliant girls day out at Nosolo Agua in Praia da Rocha. What a fab place for people watching lol! Nosolo Agua is a poolside chill out zone with a restaurant and DJ and it overlooks the beach. It’s gorgeous. But boy was it full of posers lol (we tried to blend in, see photo below lol). I went with my lovely friend (and neighbour), her mum and daughter (who has also been my model for my photography shoots). So I was an honorary family member that day! We had a fantastic time and we got back in time for our pizza night. I was exhausted by the time we went to bed.

And that was my week off from my computer. It was wonderful, but I’m back at it now. Back creating book covers, getting ready for more photography shoots (when the weather cools down a bit more), and thinking about future lifestyle and style posts for The Grey Brunette. Have you had a holiday this summer? What have you been up to? Now it’s time for the Neverending Style Link-Up—all subjects accepted. So, get linking!

The favourite this week was Style Yourself Confident’s advice on how to wear warm makeup colours. I’m always open to learning new ways to wear make-up, especially as I’m getting that little bit older! There’s some great advice here, so I highly recommend you check it out, if you haven’t already. Now, let’s get linking!

It looks like you had a wonderful time! That brick oven, seriously, there’s nothing like pizza from one. The crust, the slightly charred bits… *deep sigh*

We haven’t had a vacation yet and I’m in desperate need. I’ve been saving my time for October, my cousin is getting married and I’m in the wedding so I want to really enjoy myself.

It sounds like you had a great week. My hubby would love a pizza oven like that. He loves pizza. What is a “Pozer”?

Sounds like a fun week off! The pizza oven looks very fancy! I had a week’s holiday in the Lake District, very hot, which made long walks quite tiring. Have the month of November off, so hoping to make it to South America if the countries come off the red list!
