A denim dress that fits (kinda) | link-up

denim dress

As mentioned in last week’s post, I touched upon the fact that I’d finally bought a denim dress I loved. Well, I actually wore it the other day and we managed to get some photos! It’s a lovely dress, very flattering, but it’s not ‘quite’ right. The straps keep falling off my shoulders! I need to find a way to keep them from moving—I imagine a little elastic somewhere would do the trick but I’m not quite sure how. I will ask my bestie to see what she thinks (she’s the creative ‘sewist’!).

I originally spotted the dress in store in Stradivarius some weeks ago, but they only had it available in ‘small’ so I went straight online and ordered the ‘medium’. I know I’m not really a frock kinda gal…but occasionally I do like to wear them. But you can tell I’m not as comfortable as I usually am in my jeans or trousers. I mean…look at this expression lol…

Because I’m very predictable when it comes to footwear, I’m wearing my trusty white trainers (Skechers) and an added white cardigan for a bit of extra warmth. I found this cardie in a charity shop last year, and it’s had loads of wear already. It was definitely a great find!

I must admit to having struggled with jewellery for this neckline. I’ve got tonnes of necklaces (I’m not joking…I inherited a ridiculous amount from my late MIL) but I couldn’t find a single chunky one that went well. If you have any suggestions as to what kind suits a square neckline, let me know! So I settled on a delicate fine silver necklace that she bought me a couple of years ago. I wore a couple of chunky rings though, to make up for it! And my silver hoops, which I’ve been wearing a lot lately because I really like the way they look with my super short pixie. Sadly, I neglected to take a photo DOH!

So that’s it, that’s my new current favourite (and only) denim dress! I seriously have a thing for denim though…and I’m loving that there’s tonnes of it in the shops at the moment. I’m going to have a field day when the sales start lol!

Do you have any denim dresses? How do you style yours? And what do you think of this square neckline? Now let’s get on with the Neverending Style link-up! See you soon!

  1. I think a chunky short collar necklace would look good with this square neckline. I hope you get the strap issue straightened out because you look fabulous in this dress!

The dress is lovely on you! I don’t have a denim, but I’m keeping my eye out for one. I’m wondering how a longer beaded necklace would look? Or maybe a few them? Almost any color or color combination would work I think – except maybe black or navy.

Oh, Suzy!!!! You are so freaking sexy in this dress! I would go with a big chunky gold or silver (depending on which you like best) chain. Or, maybe a choker of some kind of glittery stones that you like! Love this on you so much! Thanks for the link party! I hope your weekend is fabulous!

What a fun dress! I love that neckline- I would totally layer a few dainty gold chain necklaces with it. Something with a small pendant, a herringbone chain, a paperclip chain, maybe?

I’ve got a new post up, hope you stop by!
