Huggie earrings have been a popular trend in many stores for some time now. These earrings are known for their simple design, yet bold statements. It’s no wonder why so many people love them! Huggie earrings are also known as huggers or huggies. They are not your typical puffy earrings, but rather a small circular hoop that usually sits on top of the earlobe and hugs it around. Huggie earrings have been described as a fun way to express yourself without drawing too much attention to them, although I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to draw attention to them, because they’re fab!
The name comes from the shape of the hoop that surrounds the post. Huggies have been popular since the 1960’s and continue to be worn today. Although (random fact here), hoop earrings have been around since 2500 BCE when it is believed that Sumerian wore them! Amazing, right?
They tend to be available with two types of closures—the hinged variety or with a lever. Personally, I used to wear the hinged ones all the time, because you can wear them to bed without any spiky bits sticking in your neck lol! And, as I can be a bit lazy, they were the perfect choice. Lately, however, since cutting my hair short again, I have been sporting slightly larger styles. I must have a look to see if I can find some larger style huggies though. Hm?
Huggie earrings are a fun way to add some sparkle to an outfit. They’re also super easy to put on and take off, so you never have to worry about them falling out of your ears…which has happened to me over the years and I’ve lost a a few earrings that had sentimental value 🙁
