Songful Style: Hello, Goodbye by The Beatles

songful style hello goodbye

Welcome to our fourth Songful Style post! Hosted by myself, Shelbee (Shelbee on the Edge), Michelle (My Bijou Life), Marsha (Marsha in the Middle) and Anne (Spy Girl), Songful Style is a brand new collaboration featuring outfits inspired by songs. We’re also inviting anyone who would like to join us, to post their own outfits in the link-up below. It doesn’t matter from what angle the song inspires the outfit, it can be from the lyrics, the tune itself, the album cover, music video, etc. Last month, our song was Hi-Heel Sneakers by Tommy Tucker. Our third Songful Style song was chosen by Marsha and is Hello, Goodbye by the Beatles.

LyricsHello, Goodbye by The Beatles
You say, “Yes”, I say, “No”
You say, “Stop” and I say, “Go, go, go”
Oh no
You say, “Goodbye” and I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello”I say, “High”, you say, “Low”
You say, “Why?” And I say, “I don’t know”
Oh no
You say, “Goodbye” and I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello
“Why, why, why, why, why, why, do you
Say, “Goodbye, goodbye, bye, bye”?
Oh no
You say, “Goodbye” and I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello”
You say, “Yes”, I say, “No” (I say, “Yes”, but I may mean, “No”)
You say, “Stop”, I say, “Go, go, go” (I can stay still it’s time to go)
Oh, oh no
You say, “Goodbye” and I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello, hello, hello”
I don’t know why you say, “Goodbye”, I say, “Hello-wow, oh, hello”
Hela, heba, helloa, hela heba, helloa, hela, heba, helloa
Hela, heba, helloa, (hela) hela, heba, helloa, hela, heba, helloa
Hela, heba, helloa, hela, heba, helloa, hela, heba, helloa…

I’m a little late with the Songful Style post this month because of Covid and our trip to Germany being postponed. But we got back yesterday so I did a quick outfit photo session this morning. I’ll tell you all about out trip, and why we went, in another post soon. For now, it’s all about the Songful Style and The Beatles; Hello, Goodbye. And OMG did I struggle with this one! I had hoped I might find something suitable to wear whilst away last week, but we didn’t get the chance to do a huge amount of shopping so no such luck. I had to rely on what I had in my wardrobe.

After searching through the images and the video for Hello, Goodbye, my general idea was to wear something brightly coloured. Ideally, I wanted to emulate the Beatles boys and wear all one colour but that just didn’t work out. So, I figured I would combine the bright colours from all their outfits into my own. Although I think it worked really well (I love wearing lots of colours), it’s not very ‘Beatles’ though, is it?

I’ve always coveted one of those military-style jackets, but still haven’t bought one. Perhaps the next time I see one I like, I might finally buy it! But I guess they’re just not ‘in’ at the moment! Anyway, the outfit I put together consists of my blue shimmery trousers that I featured a couple of months ago. I adore them but do not adore how much they crease. I teamed them with the bright green top from Zara (new), and my old orange cardigan from H&M (which they have in every season in different colours), my beautiful very high heels which are so colourful, I thought were perfect. I wanted some colourful jewellery too, so I chose this gorgeous shimmery abalone shell necklace, a couple of green stone bracelets and my pink Michael Kors watch. The outfit was completed with my FABULOUS, new Kurt Geiger handbag which I featured recently with an all black outfit.

How would you style this Songful Style challenge? Would you have found it easier than me? I hope you add your Hello, Goodbye outfits in the link-up, below! The next song for our June Songful Style post is “Behind the Wall of Sleep” by the Smithereens chosen by Anne because her amazing partner Severo is actually a band member! How cool is that?!

  1. OMG, Suzy, I adore this bright color blocked outfit! It really does capture the Sgt. Pepper vibe of The Beatles! Your rainbow bag is so perfect with it, too! I am glad that you are recovered from Covid…you look fabulous despite being unwell recently!

I love this outfit, Suzy! And it certainly captures the flavor of the Beatles with their vivid costumes the rich imagery in so many of their songs, and emotional…, brightness of Hello, Good-bye. Such a happy mix of colors. And you look fabulous in it!

I’m glad to know it wasn’t only me who struggled.

I honestly did not think this would be so hard to do, but I struggled with it, too! Of course, part of my problem was putting the song with the wrong album cover! I think you got it absolutely right, Suzy! Those pants are killer! And, all of the colors are exactly perfect!!! Love that bag…it’s like you needed it for this challenge!!

  10. I think you did really well. And colour blocking is fashionable too. Killing two birds with one stone.
Sorry that I have neglected your blog for a while. I was on holiday, had to catch up afterwards and am now in the process of cataract surgery. One eye is done and the vision is amazing. The 8th of July the other eye will be done. In the meantime I am not allowed to wear make-up for 4 weeks. Aaaghh

Thanks Greetje! I hope you had a lovely holiday. The cataract surgery sounds a bit scary, but fantastic that it’s given your vision back! Shame about the makeup, but at it’ll definitely be worth it!
      Hugs
