My new cat-eye glasses & the Neverending Style link-up

I collected my new cat-eye glasses yesterday. I’d been to the opticians two weeks ago for a check up because I’d noticed my eyesight had been getting steadily worse over the past year or so, and eye headaches are no fun! At the time, I’d ordered new lenses for all three pairs that I already own (and love). You know the ones, the red pair, multi-coloured pair and brown pair. Well, I just couldn’t resist a fourth!…

For years, I’ve been coveting a pair of cat-eye glasses. Have you watched Glow Up? I mentioned it in my last post? Well, one of the judges, Val Garland, always wears the most stunning cat-eye glasses and I just wish I could wear a pair like hers! But whenever I tried them on, they never looked quite right. It didn’t help when Michael laughed at me either! So, I would end up choosing something else instead. This time, however, I went to the opticians alone.

After my test, and we’d organised what lenses I needed, I mentioned that I quite fancied a fourth pair. I also said I didn’t want to spend too much money because the multicoloured glasses I bought last time were rather expensive! So, we started browsing the cheaper lines and I immediately noticed this pair. They’re not overly accentuated cat-eye glasses, it’s quite subtle, but I tried them on (with my mask on, of course) and loved them. The staff at the opticians were brilliantly helpful and I ended up ordering them on the spot. I just had to wait a couple of weeks for the lenses to arrive.

New cat-eye glasses

And here they are. Aren’t they fabulous? I only paid 69 euros for the frames and 59 for the lenses, and I’m chuffed to bits with them. They’re very comfortable because they’re quite light, which is always a good thing when you have to wear glasses all day.

On this visit to the opticians, I discovered I now have to use a separate pair of glasses for reading and working on the computer. I didn’t see the point in having an extra pair for that, so I made my brown Hacket London glasses my reading glasses, and the other three pairs are for everyday wear. So now I can switch it up to suit my outfit!

The only problem I’m finding since my prescription changed is that my right lens is so thick that my eyelashes keep fluttering against it lol! Michael’s suggestion was to cut my eyelashes!!! I’d rather just put up with it, thank you very much! Maybe I ought to try curling my lashes before I put on mascara? Hm… I’l keep you posted on that one.

Anyhow, I wanted to wear an outfit to show off my new glasses, and so I went with a camel-coloured look. These camel boots are simply divine, I just adore them. It’s such a shame that my feet don’t feel the same way. I can’t wear them if I know I’m going to be standing for long periods of time, otherwise my bunions scream at me! But they’re good for dinners out—whenever that happens again, that is. I bought them from Massimo Dutti quite a few years ago (in the sale, of course).

The camel leather jacket, however, is a more recent purchase. A Christmas gift from Michael. It’s gorgeous, isn’t it? You might remember it from a couple of weeks ago when I wore it with chocolate brown and pink sequins. Oh, it’s also from Massimo Dutti. I now have three leather jackets from there because the quality is so good and the price is often right (especially when the sales come around!).

I’ve had these black trousers for ages and they only ever get worn in the winter, for some reason. I think they came from Zara. They fit nicely, a bit snug though. The blouse is new. I bought it online from H&M a couple of months ago. It was a bargain, I can’t remember how much, but knowing me it was probably less than 15 euros. It’s super wide though so it needs to be tucked in. But I do like the gathering on the sleeves, it just gives it a little extra je ne sais quoi.

My black faux leather handbag was a Christmas present from my in-laws. Cool, isn’t it? Very rock chick. It would look good with the outfit I wore on Monday too. The earrings are super old, they were a gift from an old colleague, and the necklace was a gift from a friend. I’m lucky aren’t I? I’ve got lovely friends and family lol!

And that’s it, my camel coloured outfit to go with my fabulous new cat-eye glasses. Do you wear glasses? Is there a style you wish you could wear?

  1. Suzy, this outfit is fabulous! So sassy and just all around cool. And those boots are amazing! It is a bummer that they hurt your feet so badly. But we all have some sitting shoes in our closets, don’t we? Your new glasses are divine! I am a big fan of cat eye glasses as well but they never look quite right on my face either. I have to go for the subtler cat eye shape as well. You definitely found a pair that looks amazing on you! I hope you have a lovely weekend!

You have some seriously good glasses! I went to the opticians yesterday fully expecting to get a colourful pair but in the end got a rimless pair with blingy arms. Also got a pair of prescription sunglasses which are very in your face! Have a great Easter xx

First of all, I love your new glasses. I wear contacts most of the time and only wear mine early morning or late at night. I do have to wear readers too when print is small or light is bad. I also really am loving this camel and black combination! Superb!

    • Suzy says:

Thanks Mireille! I got contacts a couple of years ago and I wore them for special occasions. But then Covid hit and I didn’t want to wear them, in case they made me rub for eyes. And now, of course, my prescription has completely changed so I really ought to throw them away!!

Why can’t those boots be current?!!!!! I love them! The glasses look really good Suzy. I’m tempted to try the cat-eye shape now. Have a lovely weekend xx

    • Suzy says:

LOL sorry Laurie! Bought them years ago lol! But I could totally see you wearing them. They are very much your style. However, I would suggest you have a look at Massimo Dutti every now and again because they have had very similar styles since. In fact, I’d say that a lot of their clothing would be right up your street! Have a lovely week!

Those glasses are very nice, however I would love to see a photo in your face. I love camel boots and yours are gorgeous. Love the hole outfit. I always curl my lashes, it’s easy and so much better. Don’t listen to Michael, lol. Enjoy your Easter weekend.

    • Suzy says:

LOL Nancy, my best friend said exactly the same thing. She said, I was looking this way and that but never looked right into the camera lol! I will remember it next time!!

  10. Your new glasses suit you. I was surprised to read the cost of the frame and especially the lenses. We usually pay heavy for lenses in the Netherlands. Or perhaps that is for progressive lenses?
And I love your outfit. I tried to immitate your pose of one bent knee and one leg underneath it. Didn’t quite nail it haha.
    Greetje

    • Suzy says:

Thanks Greetje! Progressive lenses are also expensive over here too, but I’m not quite ready for them! These are just simple lenses, whatever they’re called lol!
I love that you tried my pose LOL! I’m always trying new ones, and they don’t usually work but I got lucky with this one!!!

I love love love your glasses. Cat eyes are so fancy in a fun way. But, seriously, how cruel is it that folks with bad eyesight have to pick out glasses? LOL

Your outfit is perfect. Love it.

    • Suzy says:

OMG Daenel, I know, right?! It is cruel lol!!
      Thank you so much, Gorgeous!
      Have a fantastic week,

I love your new glasses, they really suit you! Fab outfit too. I saw the first series of Glow Up – Val’s glasses definitely make a statement. They look like they’re slipping down all the time though – I just want to push them up a bit! Thanks for linking up!

LOL Emma, you know I don’t think I ever really noticed that Val’s glasses looked like they were falling down. Probably because I was too busy staring at what she was wearing lol!
You know season 2 is on Netflix?! It’s well worth watching!
      Have a fabulous week!
