Embracing a new creative journey in Portugal | link-up

Hey folks! Sorry the link-up was delayed a bit today. I was busy working on a little video for my Suzy Turner YouTube channel, one that I’m trying to liven up again. Last week, I shared a little video on it featuring some of the silly images that AI tends to produce, but this week I wanted to start sharing more vlog-type content about my creative journey in Portugal..

Let me backtrack a bit—I’m not exactly sure what triggered it, but I suddenly decided that I should start making more content for, well, pretty much all of my blogs and YouTube channels! That’s actually quite a lot, because I have The Grey Brunette, I have Suzy Turner and I have Think Like Queenie (and, secretly, I just launched an ASMR channel too but I’m not ready to share that just yet because I haven’t decided if it’s something I want to continue with). Clearly, my head is all over the place. I guess it’s because I’ve been really inspired over the past week or so and I’m just trying to pinpoint exactly where I want to go next.

What I do know for certain is that I want to embark on a creative journey in Portugal, producing more ‘inspiring’ content that encompasses all aspects of my life here, including people and places as well as my creative side. I will obviously continue with my style posts on The Grey Brunette though because I do enjoy that, even though I haven’t had much of a chance to take many outfit pics lately. But that will change soon, with the changing of the seasons (YAY it’s cooling down!). And I’m carrying on with Think Like Queenie because I love that side of things too!

Anyway, I woke up mid-week feeling really crappy. Not only was I in the middle of my period and had ghastly pains, but I also seemed to be feeling really woozy and nauseous and extremely tired. I’d clearly picked up a bug somewhere, and I was unable to get much work done, so, instead, I curled up on my little sofa and started watching YouTube videos. OMG I got so sucked in that I subscribed to a whole host of wonderful new channels that are inspiring me to get creative again with my iPhone and cameras! I’m obsessed with some of these gorgeous channels, which are mostly Vlog style with music and voice-overs—exactly the route I want to go down. Here are a few of them:

Jonna Jinton | The Cottage Fairy | Rachel Maksy (she isn’t like the others but she’s really funny!) | Her 86m2 | Darling Desi | Isabel Paige | Dainty Diaries

And then there’s some fabulous creators who teach you all about photography, cinematography and iphone filming and stuff. I could literally just watch them for hours! Actually…I did lol!

As I had already filmed myself doing some random stuff around the house, I thought I would edit it together and produce my first vlog. The filming isn’t great, but I just wanted to make a start and get something up on YouTube. And here it is. I hope you’ll check it out and subscribe to the channel (pretty please!) and share with anyone you think might appreciate my channel (thank you in advance).

I’ve clearly got lots to learn, but that’s exactly what I intend to do. I’m going to continue to make what I hope is inspiring content and I’m going to get better and better (I promise!). I’ve got all the gear now too so I’ve got no excuses lol. I’m super excited about this next step in my creative journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me. I hope you’ll come along with me and enjoy it as much as I will!

Now let’s get on with the late link-up! What have you been up to this week? I hope none of you have had this dreaded bug!

Suzy, your video was fabulous! I really liked the special effects and the music. Your new home is coming right along, eh? You are vicious when it comes to cleaning out your closet! I always manage to talk myself out of getting rid of things. Part of that is because the thrift shops are so full right now. Thanks for the link up!

I love this new vlog, Suzy! I will definitely be watching. You are living a life I once dreamed about, but my intended destination was Spain.

I apologize for my absence. I got burned out on fashion and have been following my own new passion – art.

Your voice is so soothing… I hope you’re feeling better.

I have multiple Instagram accounts because I can’t seem to focus on one thing and I just assume that no one who follows one account is interested in new stuff.

Were y’all impacted by the earthquake? I heard that you could feel it in Portugal.

Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling poorly Suzy. I hope you feel better soon. Kitty cuddles are the best!

  7. YouTube is something I struggle with and just video in general… so kudos to you for getting out there again with it. I am off to check out your YouTube channel and follow it! 🙂

    Hi Suzy,
I have had a heck of a time keeping up with blog comments and IG. It sounds like you certainly have your plate full! I will watch your video today, as hubby and i were talking that Portugal is one of the places we want to visit. Heading to Italy in 2 weeks, we will see how I do traveling. I hope you feel better now, I know I can go down a rabbit hole on YT as well. I understand the need for creativity! I could not do an office job! I have been experimenting more with video editing and love that.
    Have a great week!

  9. Suzy, it sounds like you have lots of wonderful creative things in the works! My creativity has been all over the place, too, from outfits to art to upcycling to home decor and other crafts. I can’t keep up on my blog with all the things I have been creating! But I am having lots of fun. Sorry you have been feeling unwell and sorry I missed this link party last week! I have been struggling with some terrible digestive issues that I have knocked me down a few times over the past few weeks. Cheers to fall coming and healthier days for us both!

I should take some time to learn some new tricks with my phone and improve my photography. I have a nice Sony camera I never use.

    • Suzy says:

I have a flash camera too, Mireille but I only ever really use it for the self portraits when I ought to take it out more often. But the iphone is brilliant. I would suggest you have a little look on Youtube because there are countless amazing videos about how to use the iphones for photography and videography! I’ve spent so much time just watching them lol!
